The historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam, which is also called Dakshin Kashi, constructed by Chalukya dynasty in Vemulawada of Karimnagar district is set for a massive facelift following the allocation of Rs.100 crore in the State budget for the year 2016-17.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao made a maiden visit after assuming charge in June 2015 and promised to develop the ancient temple on all fronts.
He promised to develop the shrine after taking the suggestions of Shringeri and Kanchi Kamakoti peetams. He also promised to release Rs. 100 crore every year.
Accordingly, this budget had allocated Rs. 100 crore for the development of the temple shrine. On Friday, the vasthu experts Sai Kamalakar Sharma, G.V. Varaprasad, architects and others visited the temple shrine and inspected the plan prepared by the Devasthanam authorities at a cost of Rs. 410 crore for the development of the shrine.
Sources said that the experts have decided to develop by constructing second ‘prakaram’ (gopuram) and other developments to provide adequate facilities for the pilgrims without touching the existing ancient temple sanctum. It was decided to provide ‘maada’ streets for taking processions of the presiding deities during the festivities around the temple. The experts have favoured to utilise the tank bund and ensure that the pilgrims arrive straight away to the tank and later enter the temple shrine.
They discussed about the queue lines and construction of additional facilities for conduct of various rituals at the shrine. The experts had also said that they would visit Shringeri and Kanchi Kamakoti peetams.
