Internal bickering among two rival TRS groups in the district came out in the open in Kothagudem on Friday hours before Telangana Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s two-day district tour got underway late in the afternoon.
Altercation over erection of banners
According to sources, tension broke out in the Three-Town area when the TRS cadres of two separate groups entered into an altercation after they tried to put up flexi-banners welcoming Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao at a same location on the MG Road in the coal town.
One of the members of a group owing allegiance to a local leader allegedly removed the flexi- banner of another group claiming that they had obtained prior permission from the authorities to erect the banners.
A minor scuffle ensued between the two rival groups, following which the senior TRS leaders of the coal town intervened.
Injuries to leader
A staunch follower of a prominent TRS leader of the district holding a key post at the State-level reportedly sustained minor injuries in the melee, sources added.
The local police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
