Two boys were feared drowned in an irrigation canal at Edavalli village in Mudigonda mandal on Sunday. Sources said that Kranthi, 14, and Manoj, 15, of Thallampadu in Khammam rural mandal, had gone to Edavalli to play cricket with their friends in the village late in the afternoon. Later, they ventured into the nearby irrigation canal to take bath in the evening. Both of them were swept away by the swirling waters in the canal. The Mudigonda police launched a search operation with the help of the local villagers. However, the duo remained untraced till reports last came in.
