Bringing into sharp focus the man-animal conflict in Adilabad district once again, two sloth bear cubs, apparently delivered a couple of days back, were found by villagers in an agriculture field at Jhari Punaguda of Talamadugu mandal. The cubs, which had not even opened their eyes, were fed with milk and released in the forest close to the place where they were found by Adilabad Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Suneel Hiremath.

The DFO told The Hindu that the mother was heard responding to the sounds made by the cubs. “We released the cubs on being convinced that the mother was somehwere nearby and we will revisit the place on Saturday," he said.

Meanwhile, villagers of Sonkhas in Bela mandal became panicky after a leopard was spotted in the fields near their habitation. A team of forest officials has been sent to cross check on the information, Mr. Hiremath said.
