The association of Telangana multiple system operators of cable TV industry has claimed that it has stopped the telecast of TV9 and another channel after the Assembly passed a resolution authorising the Speaker to initiate any action as he deemed fit against TV9 for airing objectionable matter against MLAs.

The association president M. Subhash Reddy told The Hindu that the telecast of TV9 was stopped in all districts except Hyderabad from Sunday evening. It could not be stopped in Hyderabad because the MSOs were controlled by the industry from Andhra Pradesh. Anyway they were also being persuaded to join the stir from Monday.

The television channel was in the thick of a controversy after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao highlighted its ‘mischief’ in the Assembly but the channel itself tendered an unconditional apology to the House.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the Assembly Secretariat had sought legal opinion on the issue.
