TV anchor throws his hat in the ring

Chintapandu Naveen Kumar, who is known by his character in ‘Teenmar Varthalu’, to contest MLC Graduates’ Constituency elections as an independent

November 27, 2014 10:21 pm | Updated 10:21 pm IST - WARANGAL:

Popular television anchor Chintapandu Naveen Kumar, who is known by his character in ‘Teenmar Varthalu’ in a local Telugu channel, said he would be contesting the MLC Graduates’ Constituency elections as an independent.

He said he had worked as a journalist for 12 years in various media organisations and felt that there was a need for representation to journalists in the law-making body. He said he would work for the common man and urged people to support him. “People should also vote for an apolitical person and not just to members of one or the other political party,” he said.

Mr. Naveen Kumar said since the educated vote in the elections, they should not get influenced by party ideology or sell their votes as in the general elections. He said he would meet all the political leaders and seek their support as an independent candidate. “I will also meet the Chief Minister and seek his support,” he added. The journalists who worked hard during the separate Telangana movement should also get a major role in reconstruction of the new State, he opined. Mr. Naveen Kumar holds a MBA degree and hails from Madhapuram village of Turkapalli mandal in Nalgonda district.
