TU V-C lays stress on research

Prof. Sambaiah tells teachers that he will review their performance every 3 months

Telangana University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Sambaiah on Thursday appealed to the teachers to concentrate on research and go for the publication of quality articles and research papers.

“I will review your performance and publications once in every three months. The University Grants Commission (UGC) is stressing on research and is linking promotions with research,” he cautioned. Addressing the faculty members at the TU South Campus, Bhiknur, he said that in order to improve academic atmosphere, it is imperative to improve the quality of publications of teachers. “Teachers are expected to be role models to others when it comes to discipline and preparation for class work. One must ensure regular and interesting class work for the benefit of students,” he added.

Later, he went round the South Campus and inspected the construction of two hostel buildings, where he instructed engineers to ensure the best of the quality construction and warned them that he will not spare them if there were lapses.

The V-C instructed the site engineers to complete building construction works on time and hand over hostels to the varsity so as to accommodate students. On his maiden visit to South Campus, Prof. Sambaiah planted a sapling and wanted to staff to fulfil the target of planting 2,000 saplings in the campus as part of the Haritha Haram programme.

Referring to Haritha Haram, he said that it is the dream of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to turn the State green with increased vegetation. It is important to meet the targets in plantation and protect those planted. The V-C was accompanied by Registrar Prof. Y. Jaya Prakash Rao, Public Relations Officer K. Raja Ram, Principal Lalitha and others.
