TSNPDCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Konte Venkata Narayana received the prestigious ‘Skoch Order-of-Merit Award’ for innovation in billing mechanism.

He received the award at the 41st Skoch Summit held at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on Tuesday. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu.

The award was given for introducing the unique GPRS-enabled Integrated Spot Billing Project under TSNPDCL, which was the first Discom to adopt the system in Telangana in March 2014.

Mr. Venkata Narayana said the new billing system facilitates online bill payment through various modes.

It helps to remove human interface in billing and consumer data base.

With the help of the new system, bills are being issued to about 8.95 lakh consumers effectively bringing down errors in billing and reducing bill-related consumer complaints. It enabled automatic updating of billing information.

One important feature was elimination of meter reading suppressions, table readings and thus avoiding revenue loss to the Discom.

The TSNPDCL would roll out GPRS-enabled integrated spot billing system to cover 25 lakh consumers in both domestic and commercial category, Mr. Venkakata Narayana said.
