Opposing the State government’s proposed move to close down the government schools on the pretext of less number of students, the Telangana Save Education Committee (TSEC) Karimnagar district unit staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Monday.

TSEC chairperson S. Sujatha, general secretary M. Raghushankar Reddy, State observer K. Ravichander, DTF State president K. Narayana Reddy, DTF district president K. Chandramouli and others took out a rally from the DCEB office to the Collectorate and staged a dharna demanding the government to protect the government schools and other educational institutions.

They submitted a memorandum to Collector Neetu Prasad. Flaying the State government for the closure of schools due to non-availability of admissions, they said that the government should take measures for the strengthening of the schools.

Opposing the rationalisation of schools, they said that the government should provide all amenities in the schools and nutritious breakfast, midday meals and evening snacks to encourage admissions.
