Telugu Desam Party Telangana State unit working president A. Revanth Reddy has accused the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti of not fulfilling the promises it made to people two years after taking over the reins in the State.
The claims of the party and the government on transforming the new State remain on paper and the rural areas are worst hit because of the government’s indifferent attitude in ensuring all round development of the State.
The TRS should take a cue from Andhra Pradesh which initiated several welfare and development schemes for people in spite of the resource crunch facing the State, he said. “Telangana, which began its journey as a surplus budget State is lagging on all fronts. The State is in fact sliding fast in terms of development indices,” he said.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is continuing to hoodwink people through expensive advertisement of his government’s achievements, he alleged.
Party office inaugurated
Mr. Revanth Reddy was speaking after inaugurating the new TDP-TS office within the NTR Trust Bhavan, the headquarters of the TDP, on Sunday. He offered prayers at the Peddamma temple at Jubilee Hills and came by bicycle from the temple to the party office.
He welcomed Pradeep Chowdary and his followers, who defected to the TRS a few months ago and decided to rejoin the TDP.
He said the leaders who defected to the TRS had realised that there is no internal democracy in the ruling party and hence, are trying to come out of it. The TDP-TS would give due respect to such leaders intending to rejoin the party and they would also be given important responsibilities. Leaders who defected to the TRS are disillusioned with the state of affairs while the people who pinned their hopes on development in the new State too are dissatisfied, he said.
“People are now looking towards the TDP-TS which has been with them ever since its inception more that three decades ago,” he said.
