While Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was a teacher for the day, the elected representatives of the ‘pink party’ took on the role of students on the first day of the three-day inaugural political training session for TRS representatives that commenced at Vijaya Vihar Guest House here on Saturday.

Every participant was given a pen, notebook and some material to help them note down important points.

The Chief Minister said that while politicians in western countries took to teaching or writing or working for international organisations as resource persons, Indian politicians had a different system. “The egoist politicians in India can never think of switching to other professions,” he said. He said that the training session for elected representatives of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi would be conducted for a day every six months from now to keep them updated.

Stating that they were lucky to have an institution like Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in Hyderabad, he said that experts would be roped in to enlighten TRS leaders. In his inaugural speech, economist Ch. Hanumantha Rao observed that the Telangana government must concentrate on strengthening the Panchayat Raj system which would help in the overall development of Telangana. Since it is the era of Information Technology, Mr. Rao suggested that the Telangana government concentrate on IT.

Mr. Lyngdoh, said that spending money during electioneering must be restricted to bringing in transparency in the functioning of the government. The former CEC observed that development would be possible only through good governance. He asked senior legislators to guide the newly elected MLAs and MPs in various subjects.

The training session continued until 9 p.m.
