A pilgrimage to Bhadrachalam ended in tragedy for a family from Nizamabad after one of their family members, an eight-year-old girl, drowned in the Godavari on Friday. Vittal, a resident of Nizamabad, and four others of his family, including his daughter Vaishali, stepped into the Godavari at the bathing ghat to take a holy dip at around 11 a.m. All five of them were caught in the strong undercurrent. On hearing their screams, some local youth rushed to their rescue. However, they could save only four members.
