Three labourers were killed when earth caved in at the Mission Bhagiratha project site at Toggudem in Palvancha mandal on Saturday evening.

The incident took place when the trio were digging a trench at the proposed drinking water project site under the Dummugudem segment of the State government’s flagship programme, Mission Bhagiratha, sources said.

A huge mound of earth suddenly caved in owing to heavy rain and fell on the trio, burying them underneath.

The police identified the deceased as M Praveen, 24, Kotesh, 23, and Srinu, 24, of Miryalaguda of Nalgonda district.

The bodies of the victims were retrieved and shifted to the mortuary at the Palvancha government hospital, police said.

The Palvancha rural police registered a case.
