Three persons including a couple died in the last 24 hours beginning 5 p.m. on Saturday due to heavy rains that lashed North Telangana districts. A couple died after stepping on live electric wires that got snapped due to heavy rain and gales in Warangal on Sunday morning.
They were identified as Ramesh (50) and his wife Rajyalaxmi (42) of SRR Thota in Warangal city, who woke up in the morning and came out of the house. They unknowingly stepped on the live electric wire that fell down due to late-night heavy rain and gales. The scene was heart-rending and hundreds of people gathered to see the unfortunate couple.
A Nizamabad report said, a 60-year-old woman Yamuna Bai was killed when the cement slab of her house caved in at Veerannagutta tribal hamlet in Renjal mandal early Sunday morning. A piece of slab fell on her head apparently due to the incessant rain occurring in the mandal since Saturday night, according to K. Venkataiah, Tahsildar.
The victim while being shifted to hospital breathed her last. She is survived by a son. The body would be handed over to the relatives after autopsy was done, said Mr. Venkataiah.
