Threat to stop construction work at IIT-H

Problems of L&T workers at IIT, Hyderabad, would be brought to the notice of authorities concerned and addressed shortly, assured Building Construction Workers National Council Advisory Board chairman Srinivas Naidu.

He examined the ongoing construction at II-TH and interacted with the workers on Tuesday. Stating that minimum wages were not being paid for the workers, he said security arrangements were not in place and unlicensed contractors were hiring the labourers.

He also stated that ESI and PF facilities are not being provided to some of the labourers and that a portion of the work was being done by child labourers.

He warned that the works would be stalled if the problems were not addressed.
