“The determination to excel decides a person’s fate”

July 27, 2014 11:11 pm | Updated 11:11 pm IST - WARANGAL:

The determination to excel decides the fate of a person as opposed to his or her background, observed Central Information Commissioner (CIC) Madabushi Sridhar.

Despite having a modest family background, the former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, was able to reach great heights. “Education is the key to success. In my case, just because of education, I could become Information Commissioner,” he told a gathering of students at Mandala Parishad Primary School at Dharmasagar mandal here.

Mr. Sridhar was the chief guest at the function where the Sulakshya Seva Samithi, a group of youngsters, donated classroom tables and benches worth Rs. 1.5 lakh to the school.

“In our days, we sat on the floor and did not have benches. You are all fortunate now to have new benches,” Mr. Sridhar told children.

Samithi founder Manduva Santosh said that they were trying to improve the infrastructure at government schools by mobilising resources.

Last year, benches and desks were donated to ZPS School in Sundaraiah Nagar in Warangal. He thanked Premnath, Rohith Kadari and Varun Nalla for lending financial support to the event.

On the occasion, UPSC civil services 2013 ranker Raja Dayanidhi, said that government schools were in no way inferior to private schools.

Principal K. Surender Reddy, members of the samithi – Kaushik Bhupathi, Rahul Bollam, Prithvi and Revanth were present on the occasion. Saplings were also planted on the school premises.
