Ten kg of ganja seized; two held

The rural police under the direct supervision of Assistant CP D. Anandkumar arrested Munwar Ali, kingpin of the ganja racket, and his associate Raju at Pragathinagar here on Saturday morning.

Ten kg of ganja, ₹1.20 lakh, eight mobile phones, debit and credit cards, a car and a scooter were also recovered from the accused. A case was registered against them under Section 20 (b) ii (c) of NDPS Act at the four-town police station.

Presenting the accused before newsmen here, the ACP said further investigation would be held in this case. Earlier, on April 22, Munswar’s associates Afroze, Jamaluddin and Shaik Pasha were arrested when they were trying to transport ganja from his house at Arshapally.

The vehicle was seized and they were sent in judicial custody, he said.
