The nomination of all the seven candidates who filed their papers for elections to Telangana Legislative Council on Thursday was found in order when the scrutiny was taken up on Friday.

The list of validly nominated candidates as released by the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana read: Akula Lalitha (Congress), Tummala Nageswara Rao, K. Yadava Reddy, Vidyasagar Nethi, Venkateswarlu Bodakunti and Srihari Kadiyam (TRS) and Vem Narender Reddy (Telugu Desam).

Meanwhile, the TDP on Friday took objection to the inclusion of nominated MLA Elvis Stephension and TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh in the voters’ list for the elections. The party protested that the nominated members were barred from participating in voting in the Parliament and that Mr. Ramesh was also not eligible to vote as per the Supreme Court direction on the controversy over his dual citizenship. This was taken to the notice of the Election Commission on Thursday.

Responding to TDP’s claim, TRS candidate in the elections K. Yadava Reddy said there was no bar on voting by nominated MLAs and that the issue of Mr. Ramesh concerned the High Court in the combined State. It will not apply in Telangana State.
