Former PCC president and MLC D. Srinivas has warned the TRS against severe repercussions, if it continues to harass the Congress elected representatives and government officials, who do not tow its line.
If it doesn’t desist from resorting to such nefarious acts the Congress party would seriously resist the ruling party in the form of agitations. The TRS left democratic values and principles to the wind, he said in an informal chat with reporters here on Tuesday.
Saying that 100 days had passed since the TRS had assumed the power, but all its electoral promises remained non-starter, he said that he had no confidence over the implementation of the promises given the conditions and financial position of the State. “We will be happy if they are executed in letter and spirit for which the government needs to have sincerity and determination”, he said.
Listing out different issues persisting the State, Mr. Srinivas said that the new dispensation had not yet taken a decision as regards the fee reimbursement of students in professional colleges. Farmers were in utter confusion with bankers insisting them to repay loans, while there was no formal order from the government to stop loan recovery as all farm loans were going to be waived.
“I am unable to understand as to what exactly is the government going to do? It promised to provide seven hour supply to farm sector, let alone seven hours it is not given even for five hours. In our tenure we have promised to give five per cent reservation to Muslims, but failed to do so and could provide only four per cent. Then, how come, the TRS regime will give 12 per cent each to Muslims and tribal people,” he wondered.
The former Minister remarked that had the recent rains had not favoured the government the TRS would have lost surely the by-election to Medak Lok Sabha constituency. The rains gave relief to the farming community, which was in jittery all these days, he said.
TPCC secretaries D. Surender and N. Ratnakar, Congress senior leaders Puppala Shobha and Akula Chinna Rajeswar were also present.
