Telangana BC students want hike in scholarship

A large number of students staged a dharna here on Sunday demanding that scholarship amounts be increased in tune with the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.

Expressing their support to the students who were agitating under the banner of Telangana Backward Classes Students Association were MLA R. Krishnaiah and association president Ryaga Ramesh.

Quantum demanded

The students demanded that mess charges for college students be hiked from the present Rs.1,050 to Rs.2,000, from Rs.750 to Rs.1,200 for students of Class III to VII and from Rs.850 to Rs.1,400 for students from Class VIII to X.

The association also demanded that cosmetic charges to be raised to Rs.300 from Rs.200 at present.
