Teachers’ promotion demanded

Telangana Rashtra Teachers Federation (TRTF) state president Yellala Laxma Reddy has demanded that the government take up transfer and promotion of teachers simultaneously.

Participating in a TRTF district unit meeting here on Sunday, he said the government may delay promotions, given the impending elections to gram panchayats. He added that compulsory transfer of headmasters and teachers, who have completed five and eight years of service respectively, must also be taken up.

He then asked for teachers’ transfer to be conducted manually as it was done in 2015, and urged the government to deduct ₹300 to ₹600 a month from teachers’ salaries to provide health cards and ensure corporate hospital treatment.

On the occasion, TRTF district unit elected office-bears — M. Prathap Reddy as president K. Ravi Kumar and P. Jyothi as vice presidents.
