A government school teacher escaped from the wrath of villagers who came to thrash him following complaints that he was reportedly sexually harassing a tenth class girl student, in Eesala Thakkapalli village of Ramagundam mandal on Thursday.

Peddapalli Circle Inspector P. Prashanth Reddy told The Hindu that Avula Rajaiah (40), mathematics teacher of Zilla Parishad High School in the village, had been harassing the student since long and even tried to get physical with her.

Humiliated, the girl informed her parents, who rushed to the school along with some villagers and tried to thrash him, but he took to his heels. Following a complaint given by the parents, the Basanthnagar police registered a case. It is alleged that there were similar complaints against the teacher for harassing girl students in various schools he worked.
