With the swine flu scare continuing to haunt people, a few tea vendors in the town have come up with new marketing strategies to make a quick buck by publicising green tea as a natural drink to stimulate immune system to keep diseases, including seasonal flu, at bay.
A tea vendor on the busy Wyra road had put up a poster titled ‘Green tea blocks influenza reproduction’ - referring to some research findings. The poster also contains the anti-viral and disease fighting properties of green tea as claimed by some researchers.
Rs. 30 per cup
The tea vendor has fixed the price of green tea at an exorbitant Rs. 30 per cup at his stall.
The impressive posters containing illustrations and some tips to revitalise the immune system of the body are attracting quite good number of green tea lovers to the stall.

I am only popularising the medicinal properties of green tea to boost immune system of the body, he claims.
Green tea will help stimulate immune system, the defence mechanism of the human body to fight various ailments, says Dr G Siva Raman, Senior Medical Officer, Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Khammam.
There is no scientific evidence that green tea is a remedy to swine flu. It may offer some relief from common flu, he says.
