‘TDP, YSRC elected representatives should resign’

T-Congress MLC faults them for not being able to achieve change in Polavaram design

June 25, 2014 12:25 am | Updated 07:34 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Congress MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy on Tuesday demanded that elected representatives of the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress resign, owning moral responsibility in not being able to achieve a change in design of Polavaram project.

Speaking to presspersons at the Media Point in the Assembly complex, he said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy should fight tooth and nail the ordinance on Polavaram that was promulgated recently. “Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy terming that Polavaram Project in its present design a boon is quite sad,” said the MLC.

Mr. Sudhakar Reddy said the inclusion of seven mandals into Andhra Pradesh was against the administrative order of November 17, 1959 and hence it was unconstitutional. Rejecting the Assembly resolution moved by the Chief Minister on Tuesday, he said, “The least Mr. Naidu could do is to impress upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi the need for a change.”
