The Telugu Desam Party leaders led by its district president Ch. Vijayaramana Rao opened the valve of the water pipeline of Moulana Abdul Kalam Sujala Sravanthi drinking water project carrying water to Hyderabad city, between Arepalli and Pusala villages of Sultanabad mandal, to fill the minor irrigation tanks in the region on Saturday.

The water was being lifted from the Sripada Yellampalli project in Ramagundam mandal of Karimnagar district to meet the drinking water requirements of twin cities.

The TDP leaders went to the pipeline site and opened the valve to release water into the nearby minor irrigation tanks.

Denouncing the diversion of Godavari waters to Hyderabad, betraying the people of Karimnagar district, who are facing severe water shortage due to the prevailing drought conditions, Mr. Vijayaramana Rao flayed Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for betraying the people of Karimnagar district, who were in the forefront during Telangana statehood movement, by denying them water for irrigation and drinking purposes.

As the news spread, the police rushed to the spot and closed the valve and stopped the leakages. Meanwhile, the police said that the irrigation authorities are planning to lodge a complaint against the TDP leaders.
