Minister for Energy and SC Development G. Jagadish Reddy on Tuesday said Telangana will become a guide and play a director’s role for other States when it comes to agriculture and farmers.

Addressing an awareness session of Rythu Bandhu in Haliya mandal here, Mr. Reddy said agriculture suffered the most when the Congress ruled.

Both the Telugu Desam Party and the Congress are responsible for the injustices towards farmers in the left bank canal region of Nagarjunsagar project, he alleged.

Senior leaders from here, including K. Jana Reddy also neglected farmers. However, farmers are seeing a new light after benefits of agricultural schemes and irrigation plans were reaching the region, he said.

Explaining the importance of farmer’s coordination committees, he said the players in the village and mandal level were nothing but a unifying force of the farming community.

Mr. Reddy earlier welcomed cadres from the Congress party into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
