TDP committed fraud in local polls: Jagan

July 06, 2014 09:26 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:04 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A delegation of YSR Congress led by party president Y.S.Jaganmohan Reddy will call on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Monday to lodge a complaint against the TDP Government’s role in the ‘fraud committed on democracy’ in the conduct of election of chairpersons to the municipalities, MPPs and ZPPs.

Party spokesperson G. Srikanth Reddy told reporters here on Sunday that people were already hating the TDP Government for its role in perpetrating a fraud on democracy in the conduct of municipal and local bodies’ chairperson elections and for its miserable failure in keeping its election promises.

“With a confused Naidu speaking in different voices on farm loan waiver and with his open support to his party leaders making a mockery of democracy in the local bodies’ elections, people are hanging their heads in shame,” Srikanth Reddy said, adding that nature too stopped cooperating with such a Government.

YSR birthday

The YSRCP will take up programmes to serve people in every village, town and city from July 8, in memory of former Chief Minister, late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s birthday. The activities will include giving the numerous statues of YSR, as he was popularly known, a ‘milk bath’.

Giving out a call to this effect to its leaders and cadres in the districts, the party high command also wanted special ‘poojas’ to be offered at all Assembly constituency and district headquarter towns, invoking the blessings of Varuna, the Rain God. A press release said the mere mention YSR brought to people, fond memories of a rule without any financial burden, be it through increased taxes, bus charges or power tariff.

Also, the release mentioned how without a vocal demand, ‘Aarogyasri’ was introduced, giving access of quality medicare to the poorest of the poor, and the 104 and 108 emergency services, fee reimbursement and construction of 47 lakh houses when YSR was Chief Minister.
