TDF decries withdrawal of permission for meeting in Warangal

May 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 12, 2016 08:04 pm IST - WARANGAL:

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is acting like a fascist by denying permission to proposed public meeting by the Telangana Democratic Forum (TDF), said its convenors Nalamasa Krishna and Katyayini Vidmahe.

They said the police had earlier given permission to hold a public meeting by the TDF at Islamia College Grounds on May 24. It was intended to demand stoppage of ongoing slaughter of people in the name of Green Hunt by the Central Government and also growing police atrocities against adivasis, dalits, women and minorities in the country.

The police gave permission to hold the public meeting and suddenly withdrew the same without assigning any reason. “The police suspect that we are acting at the behest of Maoist party which is wrong. How can a government or police deny freedom of speech and right to hold a public meeting,” they sought to know.

The TRS leadership which claimed to be implementing the Maoist agenda and end the inequalities was now acting like fascist government, the alleged. The people deposed Mr. Chandrababu Naidu for doing the same and they will do it once again, Mr. Krishna said. The KCR Government denied permission to public meetings at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, one proposed at Cherla near Bhadrachalam and now in Warangal.

People were observing the acts of the Government. “For the last one week all our activists are being haunted and hunted.

Several of them are taken into custody and lodged at various police stations. We demand unconditional release of all,” said Mr. Krishna.

Mr. KCR was boasting of building a Bangaru Telangana where every section will be happy. Can he do it by denying people their constitutional rights and freedom? he questioned.

“The public meeting will go on despite repression and we appeal to people from all corners of Telangana and beyond to attend in large numbers for the rally and public meeting to be held at Islamia College Grounds on May 22 in Warangal,” he said.

Representatives of the revolutionary writers association, progressive writers association, Telangana Democratic Front and a host of organizations were present.

The Telangana Democratic Forum was founded in 2015 after the encounter of Maoist party naxalites Sruthi and Vidyasagar Reddy and is an umbrella organization of over 100 peoples’ organizations.
