Thanks to the Swachh Bharat campaign, the long-pending cleaning of Gollapadu Channel in Khammam town has come under sharp focus.

The civic administration focused its attention on cleaning the clogged channel, which has remained neglected for a long. The government departments concerned swung into action to clean up the channel and other water bodies besides the open storm water drains in and around the town in connection with the ongoing cleanliness drive.

Collector K Ilambarithi, Superintendent of Police A. V. Ranganath and senior officials of various government departments led the massive cleanliness drive held at Saradhinagar and other places in the town on Monday.

First Additional District Judge PSR Chiranjeevi Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Kavitha, Khammam MLA P Ajay Kumar and others took part.
