The Swachh Hyderabad campaign is a good start but hardly a fraction of the city is being cleaned. Political leaders, local police and officials are posing for pictures while only one or two main lanes are cleaned. Sub-lanes are being left out. In the Mohammadia Colony in Falaknuma, sweeping is done once in two weeks, with garbage getting piled up in every lane.

Citizen involvement necessary
Swachh Hyderabad is undoubtedly a great initiative but this campaign should not create an impression that it is only the responsibility of the government to keep the city clean.
The administration must also make efforts to educate citizens that it is their responsibility too.

A farce?
Is Swachh Hyderabad only for media or to fool the public? I cannot see any improvement in sanitary conditions in the city. Forget cleaning roads, at least make the dumpyards clean so that those residing nearby can live a healthy life. My suggestion is increase the number of dustbins on footpaths and increase awareness among the citizens on issues of sanitation.
