‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign: Karimnagar follows suit

October 24, 2014 11:15 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 04:11 pm IST - KARIMNAGAR:

Even as the Union government launched the ambitious ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign a month ago by taking up cleanliness drives across the country, the district administration has now decided to take the campaign forward in Karimnagar district.

At a review meeting with district officials here on Friday, Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah instructed all district officials to take up cleanliness drives every Tuesday. He asked authorities to take up the drive in all municipal corporations, municipalities and gram panchayats. Directing officials to launch the special drive in at least one municipal division or ward, he said that the cleanliness drive should be completed in all villages, corporations and municipalities within three months.

He said that the cleanliness drive would be taken up on Tuesdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and ZP, Panchayat Raj, RWS, public health, electricity, MEPMA and IKP officials would be involved in the drive. A special cell will be opened at the Zilla Parishad to closely monitor the cleanliness drive. He also informed the authorities to take up chlorination of all water bodies in the district.

Additional JC Nambaiah, DM&HO K. Balu and others were present.
