Tension prevailed for more than an hour at Thanedarpally village in Mulugu mandal on Thursday when some villagers obstructed the survey of trees and structures in the farm land that was sold to the Government for the proposed Kondapochamma reservoir.

Soon after the officials including survey department staff and mandal revenue officials arrived at the village at about 10 a.m., the villagers confronted them asking what for they had come.

When the officials informed them that they had come to conduct survey of tree and structures, the villagers got irritated and obstructed them. The villagers made it clear to the officials that they would not allow conduct of the survey till they were paid the compensation for assigned lands as well.

“I am having about 1.32 acres of patta land and 1.15 acres of assigned land. While the Government paid amount of ₹ 12 lakh per acre as promised for the patta land registered, there was no word about the amount that was to be paid for assigned land we had surrendered to the Government. How can we allow the officials to conduct the survey without paying the compensation,” asked S. Kanakaiah, a farmer of the village.

CM’s promise

“We do not know what happened to the double bed-room houses and sheep and cattle offered to us. We do not know what will happen to the amount that needs to be paid for our assigned lands if we allow them to continue their work.

Equal compensation amount for patta land and assigned land was the promise made by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao himself while holding discussions with us at his farm house.

Now we are demanding the officials to pay the amount to us and continue their work,” said G. Karunakar Goud, another farmer from the village.

Finally the officials stopped survey of lands of the farmers residing in the village and continued their work by surveying lands of those staying outside the village.
