Sulakshya Seva Samithi donates benches, desks to ZP school

A group of youngsters who are part of Sulakshya Seva Samithi, an NGO, donated 35 benches and desks worth Rs. 1.3 lakh to Zilla Parishad Secondary School (ZPSS) at Unikicherla in Dharmasagar mandal here.

Speaking on the occasion, founder and president of Sulakshya Seva Samithi said they were doing this with an objective of ‘education for all’ and to improve infrastructure facilities in government schools to bring them on par with corporate schools.

“We have donated 120 benches worth Rs. 4.2 lakh in the past three years to ZPSS Sundarayyanagar, MPPS Dharmasagar and ZPPS Pegadapelly,” he said.

District Collector Vakati Karuna, who attended the event as chief guest, lauded the efforts of the Samithi members who have been working for strengthening the government schools. “Youngsters should draw inspiration from such organisations that are striving for the wellbeing of the society,” she said.

Member of the Telangana State Public Service Commission, Vittal, said people and NGOs should work together and strengthen the government schools. Corporate educational institutions were pushing people into poverty as they were selling their property to send their wards to colleges.

Renowned scientist and IIT Hyderabad professor Nishanth Dongari stressed on the importance of leadership qualities for a student and opined that private schools totally ignore such traits and focus only on rote learning.

DEO Rajiv thanked Santhosh and Sulakshya, members of the Samithi, for their continued support in proving infrastructure to government schools. He said that the State government was keen on providing education to the poor and was focusing on basic amenities and infrastructure in schools.

Vanajeevi Daripalli Ramaiah, who planted more than a crore saplings in the past five decades, talked about the importance of improving green cover.

School principal Jithender Reddy thanked the Samithi for donating furniture to their school.
