Striking Arogyasri Trust Outsourcing employees, who have been on strike since July 24, organised ‘Vanta Varpu’ programme at district Collectorate here on Friday to highlight their issues.

Speaking to The Hindu, J. Tarak said that they have been working with the Trust since the inception of Arogyasri in 2007, but were given no hikes.

Stating that the Arogyasri services have been totally paralysed across the State following their strike, Mr. Tarak alleged that the apathetic State government showing no interest to resolve the logjam.

The employees were demanding increase of team leaders’ salary from existing Rs. 9,800 to Rs. 25,000, Network Hospital Arogya Mithra from Rs. 7,200 to Rs. 20,000 and Mitras working at Primary Health Centres to Rs. 20,000 from current Rs. 5,900 apart from paying travel allowances and DA for their field visits and for attending camps.

Another employee, Vinay Maithreya, said their demand for hike was justifiable since the prices of all the essential commodities saw a considerable rise during the past few years.

The woman employees were also demanding the government to provide the paid maternity leaves. Since these Mitras being reshuffled for every six months, the employees had tough time in shifting the family from one place to another place for every six months which the striking employees wanted the government to stop the practice.

They also urged the government to treat them as Trustee employees instead of outsourcing employees.
