Steady increase in income

Vemulawada temple earns Rs. 84.92 crore

Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada saw a steady increase in annual income during the last financial year following the biennial Samakka Sarakka Jatara.

During 2015-16, the temple earned Rs. 84.92 crore from all sources as against Rs. 70.0 crore during 2014-15. Sources said that the temple income increased following Samakka Sarakka Jatara as devotees would first pray at the Vemulawada temple before proceeding to take part in the jatara.

Annual ‘hundi’ collection increased from Rs. 13.31 crore in 2014-15 to Rs. 17.43 crore in 2015-16. Revenue from sale of ‘prasadam’ tickets increased from Rs. 7.30 crore to Rs. 8.89 crore while traditional ‘kode mokku’ ticket sale increased from Rs. 7.23 crore to Rs. 10.21 crore. Through occupancy of ‘dharmashalas’, the temple earned Rs. 2.95 crore in 2015-16 when compared to Rs. 2.53 crore in 2014-15.
