Asifabad Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency member Koyyala Hemaji, who is also a member of the Telangana State Pollution Control Board and president of the State ZPTC Forum, on Saturday, resigned from the ruling party.

In his resignation letter sent to party chief and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, he cited his disapproval of party’s policies and the dictatorial attitude of the party president as reasons for him taking the decision to quit.

Mr. Hemaji, who is under suspension from party, is reported to be planning on joining Bharatiya Janata Party during the visit of that party’s national president Amit Shah. He has held parleys with BJP State leaders on the issue.

Demand for funds

The ZPTC Forum president was suspended from party last year when he staged a protest during Zilla Parishad general body meeting seeking funds for development of ZPT constituencies. He accused the TRS of not giving him any notice before taking the drastic decision.

“I wanted to take the issue of lack of funds to the notice of the Chief Minister. But he did not give me an appointment,” Mr. Hemaji complained in his letter.

Further, the ZPTC member accused the TRS leadership of not able to digest his political growth as he belonged to a Dalit community. He also cited the attitude of MLC Puranam Satish and Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi as another reason for him to quit the party.
