The Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park in Tirupati has been buzzing with excitement ever since one of its famed white tigers, Rani, gave birth to four cubs with a snow-white tan.
Basking in adulation
The pristine cubs have become the talk of the town. And the cubs are basking in the adulation, jumping over one another, fondling their mother and challenging their father, Sameer.
Highest number
The Tirupati zoo presently houses 11 white tigers, said to be the highest number for zoos in the south.
The zoo has seen the birth of a whopping 18 white tiger cubs in the last six years, some of which have been given away to zoological parks in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Mysore, Jaipur and Jamshedpur.
Generally, white tigers are kept away from the regular brown-skinned ones to maintain their exclusivity. The four cubs are now being kept in isolation and will soon be brought to the main enclosure to satisfy curiosity.
