Smaller projects neglected for Kaleswaram: Kodandaram

Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman M. Kodandaram said implementation of Kaleswaram Project will turn out to be too costly and filling of proposed Mallannsagar Reservoir with Godavari waters will be a herculean task.

“The State Government has been ignoring many other smaller irrigation projects in the name of major irrigation projects like Kaleswaram. Filling of Goadavari waters in the Mallannasagar is not financially viable,” opined Mr. Kodandaram while speaking to reporters here on Monday.

He was on his way to Jogipet to inaugurate the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The TJAC Chairman said that the other irrigation projects in the State were in hibernation due to the lack of government focus and it giving priority only to major irrigation projects.

Referring to Singoor Project, Mr. Kodandaram alleged that the Government had confined only to digging of left bank canals whereas right bank canals that can cultivate lands at Munipally, Sadashivapet and Sangareddy were completely neglected.
