The Godavarikani sub-divisional police have arrested six-member burglar gang and recovered stolen property of 2.145 kilograms of gold, 30 kilograms of silver and Rs. 4 lakh cash from their possession.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Monday, Superintendent of Police V. Shiva Kumar said that the burglars had decamped with the booty, which was stored in a locker weighing 360 kg, from a jewellery shop in Centenary Colony of Kamanpur mandal on April 21 night. Based on a complaint from the shop owner Uppula Kanaka Chary, the Godavarikhani Two town police have registered a case and started investigating following the leads given by the Clues team.
The accused Eluvaka Srinivas (35) of Adivarampet village in Manthani Mutharam mandal, Sk. Kareem (45) and Vanaparthi Satheesh (28) of Sultanabad mandal, K. Srinivas (23) and Mylaram Anil (20) of Kamanpur mandal and M. Naresh of Manthani Mutharam mandal have committed the offence by removing the rear door and decamped with the locker in an auto-rickshaw.
They broke open the locker by using crowbar and distributed the booty among themselves. The police special teams have detected the case with all the gold and silver ornaments intact and recovery of cash. The SP appreciated the Clues team and the other police personnel and assured them of suitable rewards. Godavarikhani DSP S. Malla Reddy, Godavarikhani Two town CI G Krishna and others were also present.
