‘Sinister design behind land pooling’

March 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - PENUMAKA:

In his first visit to villages in the capital notified area, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday alleged that there was a sinister design behind pooling of vast tracts of farm land and then assuring land owners that a developed plot would be given in residential and commercial zones in the proposed capital region around Thullur.

Addressing a public meeting here, Mr. Reddy said land owners had been taken for a ride by the TDP government.

He promised that lands forcibly acquired would be returned to land owners, if voted to power. Mr. Reddy alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had colluded with realtors and pledged 15,000 acres in the capital region to real estate firms.

Out of 50,000 acres notified for the capital region, 26,000 acres belonged to small and marginal farmers.

Land owners who had given consent letters could lose the right to develop their land.

Let the land owners have the rights to develop their land. Why does Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu need farmlands?
