Among a slew of measures to improve working conditions and other aspects in the life of miners and employees, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has launched a 10 day yoga programme called ‘Mee Kosam, Mee Arogyam Kosam,’ on Tuesday.

Yoga experts will conduct classes for workers and their families at Pragati stadium in Srirampur colony and Seva Bhavan in Naspur colony daily morning and evening until May 14.

According to Srirampur area General Manager Sd. M. Subhani, the SCCL under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Director N. Sridhar has initiated yoga teaching so that workers maintain good health.

Yoga helps release pressures which build up owing to modern lifestyle and work, he added.

The Singareni had earlier initiated a mass contact programme in its colonies called ‘Mee Kosam Mee Chenthaku’ which had officers interacting with workers and their families at their door steps.

The management noted down even personal problems faced by miners in addition to problems rising due to lapses in underground mining.
