Various tribal organisations have renewed their demand for setting up of a separate Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in residual Khammam district on the eve of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People (World Adivasi Day) on August 9.

The Telangana Adivasi Girijana Sangham planned a massive rally here on Wednesday to garner public support for the demand for establishment of an exclusive ITDA in the district to ensure effective implementation of the tribal welfare schemes and laws pertaining to the welfare of tribal people and their rights.

Several other tribal organisations have also proposed to organise a host of programmes on the occasion of the World Adivasi Day to mount pressure on the Government to take concrete steps in this regard and also to protect the rights of tribal people.

The Bhadrachalam-based ITDA became part of the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district following the reorganisation of Khammam district in October last year.

Since then, various organisations working for the cause of tribal people have been demanding establishment of an ITDA either in Enkoor, Khammam or any other suitable place to address the development needs of tribal people living in five predominantly tribal populated mandals in the residual Khammam district of Telangana.
