Karimnagar District Judge Parthasarathi on Friday convicted Kommu Anil (30) for killing four persons during Holi festival in 2012 and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life. He has been also asked to pay a fine of ₹ 12,000.

According to the case records on March 8, 2012, Anil’s friend Vadde Ravi had a quarrel with Nagula Madhu, Kola Mahesh and Kola Srinivas over payment for a snack at a small-time hotel in Teegalaguttapalli on the outskirts of Karimnagar town. Ravi immediately called his friend Kommu Anil, who rushed to the spot and thrashed Kola Srinivas and threatened him to kill with a knife.

Kola Srinivas informed the same to his relatives Jelluju Raju and Jelluju Naresh, who in turn along with their friends Janagama Kamal, Bachu Sashikiran, Kola Srinivas and P. Vijay went to Kisannagar and caught hold of Kommu Anil and thrashed him and dumped inside an auto-rickshaw to hand over to the police. Kommu Anil escaped from their clutches and whipped out a knife concealed under his motorcycle and attacked Naresh and Raju killing them on the spot.

Another victim Kamal succumbed to the injuries in the hospital same day. Sashikiran died while undergoing treatment in Hyderabad hospital after some days. Two others sustained serious injuries. Following a complaint by victims’ family members, the Karimnagar Three Town police registered a case under IPC 302 and 307 and arrested the accused.
