School girl dies after corporal punishment by teacher in Huzurabad

Irate parents of a 10-year-old girl ransacked and damaged furniture of a private school in Huzurabad town alleging that the girl had died after being punished for not completing her homework.

According to reports, the victim Ashritha, studying in Vivek Vardhini High School in Huzurabad town was reportedly punished by the teachers along with five others, who had not finished their home work on Tuesday. They were asked to kneel down for a long time.

Ashritha, who was already suffering from fever fell unconscious in the school. She was rushed to a local hospital and from there to MGM Hospital in Warangal. She passed away on Thursday morning.

Parents of the girl and the relatives brought the body and kept it on the school premises. They went on rampage damaging the school furniture.

Police rushed to the spot on information and dispersed the crowd. Police booked cases against the school management as well as the parents and others for ransacking the school.
