Saingarayakonda project to be filled with Kaleswaram water: Harish

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said Singarayakonda and Shanigaram projects will be filled with Godavari water through Kaleshwaram Project.

Participating in a review meeting at Husnabad on Wednesday, Mr. Harish Rao said these two medium irrigation projects were neglected by the previous Congress government and after the formation of State the funds were flooding to the projects.

“Gouravelli and Gandipally project are moving fast and work on Singarayakonda and Shanigaram will also be completed with the same pace. Gravity canal is coming under Mid Maniar and pumps are being fitted for Gouravelli. High capacity pumps were imported from Australia and Finland. The capacity of Gouravelli reservoir is being increased to 8 tmcft to provide irrigation to this area,” said Mr. Harish Rao adding that Gandi Mahasamudram Project was completed and it yielded excellent result.

The Minister was unhappy with commissioner and engineering officials of Husnabad Nagara Panchayat for the slow pace of work progress. “We have released about ₹5 crore funds but there was no progress of work. Let the Collector focus on these projects and let them be completed in the next two months or by August 20,” said the Minister.

Informing that six administrative staff was sanctioned for Siddipet district, he said field inspection would be held by the officials and compensation for the land oustees handed over shortly.

Lok Sabha member B. Vinod Kumar, MLA V. Satish Kumar, MLC Paturi Sudhakar Reddy and others participated in the programme.
