Office-bearers of the newly elected Telangana State Committee of the APSRTC Employees Union (EU) have strongly demanded the release of dearness allowance pending since January, 2014, apart from replenishment of funds belonging to the Employees’ Credit Cooperative Society that was used by the corporation for everyday operations.
The over two-dozen-strong delegation led by president S. Babu, general secretary K. Raji Reddy and working president K. Bhaskar Rao on Wednesday called on Managing Director J. Purnachandra Rao and spoke about their problems. They said the Managing Director had promised to solve the issue by taking it up with the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and that he would see to it that the money was remitted to them.
According to the union leaders, an estimated Rs. 50 crore is collected from the about 1.10 lakh employees who were members of the Society on pay day, adding up to a whopping Rs. 50 crore every month. They said that for the past four months or so, the management had not remitted the amount into its account and demanded that the same be done, with interest.
