RTC strike affects Army recruitment rally

May 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - ADILABAD:

The indefinite strike launched by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) trade unions since midnight was total as over 500 buses stayed in the six depots in Adilabad district.

The strike caused a great impact on the ongoing Army recruitment rally for which candidates had to come from Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak and Hyderabad.

Though a large number of candidates were expected to arrive from neighbouring Karimnagar district for taking selection tests in the Army recruitment rally, only a few hundred arrived in town through private transport modes on Wednesday.

If the strike continues, candidates slated to come from Nizamabad, Medak and Hyderabad will find it difficult to reach the selection venue slated as they are to take the test on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Instead of RTC buses, autorickshaws were seen operating from bus stands where a good number of passengers came as they were ignorant of the strike. This being the marriage season, those intending to travel on account of weddings also had their travel plans gone for a toss.
