Close on the heels of the proposed development of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada, the temple authorities along with Tourism Department have chalked out an ambitious plan for developing Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy Devasthanam on Nampally hillocks near Vemulawada.
To give a fillip to tourism here, the authorities have decided to introduce ropeway from the foothills of Nampally hillocks to the main temple shrine on the lines of Palani Subramanya Swamy temple in Tamil Nadu. The Tourism Department has proposed to set up a ropeway from Namapally temple foothills to the temple shrine and another from the foothills of Nampally hillocks to Vemulawada temple shrine.
The temple sources said the ropeway would attract more tourists to the temple shrines. They said they have also proposed to construct a guesthouse on the hillocks for panoramic view of the picturesque Mid Manair reservoir and also the Vemulawada temple. A meditation centre would be also constructed on the hillocks.
The Nampally temple shrine saw some development initiated by the then Union Minister and present Maharashtra Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao with the construction of a snake-like structure depicting the history of the temple shrine using pictures. He had ensured that a ghat road was also laid to the temple shrine for the benefit of pilgrims. It may be recalled here that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced Rs. 100 crore per annum for the development of Vemulawada and the adjoining Nampally temple shrine during his maiden visit to Vemulawada after attaining power in June 2015.
