Several thousand devotees, who participated in the Srirama Navami celebrations at the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Vemulawada, took out a huge procession of ‘Bonalu’ on Tuesday.
Drenched in devotion, the devotees carrying bonalu on their heads offered it at the Baddi Pochamma temple in the vicinity. The bonalu were colourfully decorated with lamps, paint and neem leaves.
It is believed that offering prayers at the Baddi Pochamma temple would complete one’s pilgrimage to the holy Vemulawada shrine and the God would bless them with prosperity and good health.
Prominent among those who visited the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam on Tuesday included IG (police welfare) Sowmya Mishra. The temple authorities accorded traditional welcome to Ms Mishra and presented her with prasadam.
