Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao asked the Officer on Special Duty Bhupal Reddy to convene a meeting of sports administrators in the State to resolve all pending issues pertaining to sports and sportspersons.

A. Venkateshwar Reddy, Chairman of Sports Authority of Telangana State told The Hindu that, “The Chief Minister has been attentive to the pending issues, including the implementation of order regarding 2% quota for sportspersons in government jobs.”

Pending issues

“I have submitted detailed reports on issues which have been pending for a while. They include setting up of sports hostels in all the districts of the State, and special financial aid to the Sports Authority to meet growing demands,” he added. “The Chief Minister was also informed about the need to renovate the Lal Bahadur Stadium and get rid of all the shops and establishments who offer negligible returns to the government despite being located in the heart of the City.”

“I have also requested him to regularise the services of all the coaches and also apprised him of the need to recruit 150 coaches for various disciplines to ensure Telangana produces champions,” Mr. Reddy said.

The Chief Minister is said to have appreciated the SATS officials for their passion in taking sports to every nook and corner of the State.
